Walking Off Now

So I wouldn't doubt if Claire is walking in a week or two!
Crazy I know, but she has been pulling up on everything, but even more recently has been letting go, moving sideways, turning around and trying to walk off. She has explored the whole house via her walker and I have also been helping her to take steps with me holding on to her.
She is growing up so fast-it's all bittersweet, but there is also no stopping her. She knows what she wants and then decides when and how it must all be done.
Her favorite things are still birds, planes, the cats and water.
This week she was also intrigued by a dog and tried to imitate its barks. She has also been imitating a cow on one of her walkers going moo moo.
She continues to say mama or mommommom when upset and of course dada. She also likes to talk and echo us. uh uh eh eh ah ah aghhhhh aghhhh And so on.
She is a mess and I love her.
I'm just trying to cherish every moment.
We've also been quite busy exploring the world. im glad there is a lot to do around us and in SA. We have also been meeting new friends for us at our new mom's group & then also through story time.
It's been fun and exhausting and exciting and I wouldn't have it any other way!

June Port A Getaway

We were able to take a trip to the beach!
this time we went with Megan, Travis & Maisy.
It was a good time. We stayed at Beachgate which is right behind Beachlodge between mile market 8&9.

It was neat to experience the beach again with Claire being a little older this time.
Her favorite parts were the Seagulls and eating the sand. Yes that's right eating the sand!
I tried to stop her or even thought after tasting if herself she would quit, but no!!
we figured she couldn't be the first baby to do this and heck it just seemed like it tasted too good to her.

She was funny. The first full day we went to the beach. She took a nap under the tent and played a little bit. She really enjoyed the waves. and like I said loved the birds. She squeaked and squealed when she saw the seagulls and raised her hand as if to say come to me. she was cute. So even though your really not suppose to we fed the seagulls from our balcony. Oh what fun!
She became really grumpy when they went away and she could not understand where her birds went!
The second full day we spent more time at the beach. So much so that we all got sunburned. Even little Claire got a tough of red on her-mostly because I could not keep her under the umbrella.
And yes I lathered her multiple time with very awesome sunscreen.

Unfortunately our tent frame got stolen the night before so we had to borrow an umbrella from our neighbors on the beach. But we still had fun. The water was perfect. There was a little seaweed on the beach, but no longer in the water. It was clear and the perfect temperature. Claire kept trying to crawl into the waves. I had to be very quick on my feet and save her before a wave would get to her. On the second day she still ate sand although this time she learned more of how to play in it and she would also splash in her buckets of water.

We ended the trip with a visit to the crazy Cajun-yum! We loved the snow crab , shrimp and sausage the most. It was soo good and worth the wait. :)
Til next time Port A!

Many milestones...many more to come!

Ok so I don't know about your home , but time flies in our household. I can't believe my baby girl is almost 7 months old!!
This path month she managed to hit many milestones all at once.

Milestone 1
She crawls!
I thought she might do this early. She loves floor time and since she was little little she's been working on her mad skills.
Then at 6 months week 3 -she decided she was going to take off!
Now she is our little explorer. And our kitty chaser. Lets just say Evey is a little more careful and watchful these days.
She does the army crawl, the normal crawl, the sit crawl, sit crawl crawl and the bear crawl which is her favorite. This one is where she's on her hands and feet and it looks like she's practicing her yoga moves. This one also scares me because it looks as though its the strp inbetween pulling up and full on walking! eeek

Milestone 2
She not only says Dada now, but Mama!
Hooray -I am Loved too!
Not that I think she loves me less, but Miss Claire simply adores her dada. The excitement that takes over her when she see him coming home for lunch or at the end of the day would make anyone smile.
I love that she loves him so and that God picked her out the perfect Daddy.
So back to me! Haha
She usually says mama when she is away from me or wants me to come and pick her up or be close to her. its just nice to know it has become an everyday word she uses. This makes me happy.

Milestone 3
Her first tooth has emerged!
Her bottom left tooth has made it's way out. Yay!
She's been a pretty clingy and a fussy teether. She wants me to hold her more and just be soothed by her mama. She is also a big drooler. So far we've used teething rings, the sofie giraffe, a cold washcloth, a leather strap, her pacifiers for chewing(finally she uses them for something), and cold teethers. I also put a couple drops of clove oil into 2 tbsp olive oil. I put it in an amber dropper bottle and I will rub a little on her gums to help numb it. She is also wearing her amber necklace so yep we are pretty much ready to take on this teething experience. Bring on those chompers!

Milestone 4
She has graduated to more solid foods. I have started mixing different foods. But right now she is really into a banana in the morning. She just kind of gnaws on it. She really loves her mum mums, crackers and little pieces if toast.. And she is doing the stage 2 baby food. Her favorite baby foods come in the squeeze out containers. she really like the plum organic ones.
Plus those puff snacks are like kid crack. She can not get enough!

4 months young

Oh my Baby!!
Curious-Determined-Over Achiever-Excited-Laid Back-Wonderful- Sweet

TouLouLou and I took you to your 4 month appointment this month. Dr. Tardy liked the way you were growing and was really impressed by you.
You are a very tall or long baby. Out of 10 babies your age you are taller than 9 of them. I have no idea where you got that from! You are as tall as a 9 mo old and your weight is like that of a 7 mo old. And your head is just the perfect size for you frame.
Your stats:
head--16 3/4
height-25 1/2
weight-15 lb. 3 oz.

PLAY
You like to grasp your toys, especially balls. We have a green sensory ball that you really like. You use your hands very well. You sit supported, but it is not your thing to sit yet.

You have become so curious. You like to touch things and then put things into your mouth. This includes your fingers and sometimes your hand. You enjoy chewing and sucking on them. They are usually wet and cold because of this. And occasionally you gag yourself with a couple of those times resulting in floor clean up.

You have spotted our iPhones, the iPad and the remote. Oh no!!

We have to hide them from you or else you will want to grab them, hold them and figure them out. As much as I love technology I hope you don't get too involved in it yet. I might buy you one of those kid remotes though. I let you look at the phone and ipad by showing you pictures or videos of yourself or the occasionally learning video or we will play some music for you.

You like to visit new places and see new people.
You like to smile, but sometimes you make us work for it.
Or sometimes you will just keep cheesing at everything!

Here is a pic of you smiling at yourself.

You have many different "looks" you give us and some of them remind me of my own "looks". I believed I was the master of the puffy lip, however when you do it you have me beat for sure!

Oh and you laugh!
~ Oh your laugh ~
..it is the cutest sweetest, most awesome sound.
I just LOVE your laugh!
So far you've laughed in your swing with me goofing off around you. And you've laughed while staring and talking to yourself in the mirror. And you've laughed while I've changed your diaper and you've laughed when I tickle your neck or give you too many kisses. You have laughed quite a bit and I hope you will always laugh because we yearn to see you being that silly and happy and awesome, as much as possible!

These days you are definitely more aware of everything. You are very good at telling us if you like something or if you don't. Whether you are happy or dissatisfied.

When you are sleepy during the day, it really upsets you. You know you need to take a nap, but you would rather play. Everything is stimulating so I have to get rid of the distractions and quiet you down. Besides putting you in your swing,  putting you in The Ergo is still the go to Calmer. You love to be held and close to mama. This is usually how we mange to go places or eat out. And its simple and easy. I love our Ergo and I have no idea how I would do without it!

Morning nap in the Ergo
On a hike at the SA Botanical Gardens. You passed out of course!

Also when you are sleepy you like to talk it out. You will go on and on talking and talking. Of course we have no idea what you are talking about so we make it up for now. Some of your sounds are starting to sound like words, but I'm sure you are not aware of that. We swear you can say Hi and also Da.
We recently bought you a walker, and a bouncy standing swing that goes in a doorway. This is thrilling to you! You are very excited to play in these new things, especially because they allow you to stand. The other day you actually took steps in your walker! It was pretty unbelievable. You just need about a half inch more and you will be walking in no time!
You like your play mats and your monkey bouncer too. You enjoy tummy time and can go for long periods on your tummy if you are in the mood.
Lately you have been pushing up higher with your arms, doing mini push ups. It is safe to say you get your daily work out and tummy time really wears you out! So when you are tired of being in that position you will just roll over and find something new to play with or look at or cry for mama to save you.

You LOVE your orange ball and this other thingamajig and your book- The Squishy Turtle. It is your favorite. We have also noticed you get excited when your daddy reads you the Cat and the Hat books.

SLEEP
You usually tell us when you are ready for bed by either rubbing your eyes or by being fussy.
I start by running your bath and getting your jammies ready. As soon as I lay you down on the bathroom floor you get excited. You definitely know your routine and really love LOVE bath time.
You kick and splash and move around a lot in the bath, all while smiling.

After bath time we get you all dried off. This, you DO NOT like. I have daddy talk to you and make silly noises while I rub lotion on you and give you a little baby massage. Then there is getting dressed.
You DO NOT like this part either.
After this we take you into your room and get you in your sleep sack for the night. I stopped swaddling you at 3 months, However the other night I put you back into your WOOMBIE and you went back to sleeping 8 hours straight versus the 3-4 hour stretches you've been doing recently. Perhaps you still enjoy the swaddle and your hands being enclosed. I will continue to do so until you outgrow them. Mama really enjoys the longer stretches.
I do not mind at all night nursing you. Usually it's only twice and we both go back to sleep very quickly. You still love your crib and I find you all turned around so I know you do a lot of moving in your sleep.

EATING
You are still a strictly breastfed baby. I will continue to keep it this way until you are 6 months old or as close to 6 months as I can get. Then I will start introducing you to cereal and fruit and vegetables. I am very excited about this next eating stage and to see you experience all the different new tastes and textures. But for now I know you are doing just fine on only breast milk and that is really all you need at this stage.
Once a day I sit you in your high chair. It sits in the breakfast room and looks outside to the backyard. You will sit there for a good 15 minutes playing or staring or pooping. I let you hold spoons and I will eat next to you. You are very aware and curious when we eat or drink something so we will have to see how long you will last!

You nurse at least 8 times a day. Sometime for a long time and sometimes you just need a drink or snack in between playing. Your longer nurse sessions during the day set you up for your naps.
You have 2 morning naps and 2 afternoon naps. With your noonish nap and your 3ish nap being the longer ones. Usually mommy rests while you rest or I catch up on the dishes, laundry or facebooking or my TV shows.

We are very excited to see what this next month and stage has in store for us. I believe you are growing up way too fast, but I am so thankful I get to spend all my time with you. Being a stay at home mom is such a blessing and I feel it is perfect for us!

Beach Babes

We took baby girl to the beach. Her first beach trip. She made the whole drive only to get antsy once we reached the island. 1st stop was the beach of course. I nursed her a little, but then we just couldn't wait any longer. Daddy was already out there picking shells! As soon as I lifted her hat and she could see the ocean she started cheesing. She immediately had a goofy grin and a wide eyed expression. It made me so happy. Us so happy. To share one of our biggest passions with her and also our favorite destination. We had arrived!
The salty air, the sea breeze, the clear skies and sunshine...the ocean waves that were rolling to our feet to meet us. What a welcome!
And to know that this is only the first of a lifetime of trips here, to this beach...well, that made my soul smile!

Goodbye Groovy-Hello Sandy!

So much to say.
Groovy has been in the family for a long time. We got the privilege of having her when Matt graduated from Texas State. Tom and JL got a new vehicle and since we only had one and were living in SA and not just SA, but the Helotes area of San Antonio-the land where you can't walk anywhere, we got to have Groovy.
We have been oh so many places in Groovy. We've even camped in the back of her on numerous occasions. One of Her favorite places to go was the beach. We could pack so much up in her.
But over the years things in her stopped working or repeatedly broke. Then gas prices sky rocketed and her gas consumption was huge! I loved her still. She was such a help moving us into our home this past year. Without her I don't think we could've done It.
But even more recently the ignition switch was having some problems. The key was worn down and it had a hard time turning on. Sometimes we would try for 30 minutes. Not a very dependable car anymore, especially with the arrival of miss Claire.
I had looked around at other cars and I knew I wanted an SUV again. Matt wanted it to be a 4x4 for the sand at the beach and all our future camping and travels. I loved Matt's Kia and its gas mileage/consumption so the Kia Sorento was a no brainier. Everything about it I needed and loved. So as a Christmas present to Claire and I on the day after Christmas we got to go pick out our car.
This is it!
A Kia sorento LX 4x4 in a titanium color. We named her Sandy. We can't wait to take her places and for all the places and stages she'll take us. Oh the places well go!
My favorite feature of the new car is the push ignition. I don't have to search for my keys. I know they are in my purse so I just put my purse in the car and we can go.
She has a heated steering wheel for those cold days. She has great built in navigation and a back up camera. She has red mood lighting at night, so baby girl never has to be in the dark. Black leather and not only a sunroof but a moonroof. Claire has enjoyed this feature and looking up at the sky. oh and the music systems are awesome- no more busted speakers and we get so many bonus music and Sirius. ;)
